TDK Electronics Corporation
Anaheim, CA
This 166,000 square foot building was built in 1962 and all asbestos containing material had to be removed before new construction could take place. TDK would be using the building for the packaging and West Coast warehousing and distribution center for their recording media. The existing buildings did not have the dock capacity or the office layout that TDK needed to run their plant efficiently. The project was also bounded by budget restraints enforced by their headquarters in Japan, as well as time restraints caused by the expiring lease of the building they were leaving.
Phoenix Planning and the rest of the design team met the extraordinarily tight schedule while providing the client with ongoing progress updates and as design which not only met, but exceed their expectations. The interior of the building was totally gutted and new walls, finishes, HVAC system, electrical and lighting systems, and new restrooms were added to provide TDK with the corporate look they were expecting.
